Welcome to Jane's Personal Page
Dear Family and Friends,
On Saturday, October 13th, Rob and I will be participating in 2018 Walk to Stamp Out Parkinson’s at the Philadelphia Zoo! The Walk helps to raise awareness and critical funds to improve the quality of care for people with Parkinson’s disease through research, education, and outreach in the Delaware Valley. For more information about The Parkinson Council and its work, please visit 2018 Walk to Stamp Out Parkinson’s.
Thanks to your kindness and loving generosity during last year’s Walk, not only did I meet and exceed my goal, but your support made me realize that I’m not in this fight alone. That is what it feels like to me: a fight. Every day starts a new round with my opponent who pulls from an arsenal of symptoms. When I was first diagnosed with Parkinson’s, I was sucker-punched with involuntary tremors. Thanks to a regimen of monitoring visits, medication, and therapy I’ve managed to stay off the ropes for 10 years. The tremors have almost disappeared completely. Unfortunately, they have been replaced with what I whimsically refer to as the Parkinson’s Shuffle. Yeah, I know it’s not a boxing term, but boxers are light on their feet, while mine can become frozen to the ground at the most inconvenient times.
But I’m not trying to show off my pitiful knowledge of boxing, but to ask for your help again this year. I've set my personal goal for the 2018 Walk at $1,500; please help me reach or exceed that goal. Also, remember that 100% of all donations go directly to research funded by major US Parkinson’s foundations.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
