Trust the Movement
We are back at it again, this time with a new team name and big merger announcement to mark the 5th year in a row of walking to stamp out Parkinson's Disease! This year's team, Trust the Movement, inspired by the beloved 76ers tagline, Trust the Process, is a motto to those afflicted with the disease and a call to action for their friends and loved ones. Personally, I am walking and fundraising to support my mom, Nicki, who was diagnosed in 2009 and has raised over $40k for the walk to date.
'Team Nicki/Missy' will be merging with 'Team Teetz' to form Trust the Movement. We welcome family, friends and supporters of Terry "Teetz" DiPaul, who was diagnosed in 2013. Missy Eppleman, a close friend of my mom and Council committee member, was diagnosed in 2010 and has been a part of the team since day 1.
NBA fans may recognize this assembly of star power as the Parkinson Council's first super team: Nicki, Terry & Missy.
I'm sending over details about the event and asking that you consider joining Trust the Movement for the walk and/or supporting our team's fundraising goal of $7,500.
The Parkinson Council's Annual Walk to Stamp Out Parkinson’s!
Saturday, October 13
8:30 AM (usually goes about 2 hours)
The Philadelphia Zoo
3400 W Girard Ave
Philadelphia, PA 19104
*Parking is not free, we encourage people to carpool or get dropped off.
If I sign up to walk, what can I expect?:
- Team huddle followed by walk around the zoo
- Access to the zoo for the entire day!
- Light snacks and coffee
- Official T-shirt (it's a good one this year)
- Opportunity to debut your latest walking sneaker
The walk helps to raise awareness and critical funds to improve the quality of care for people with Parkinson’s disease through research, education and outreach in the Delaware Valley and 100% of the money raised will stay in the region. The disease does not currently have a cure.
Grateful for your ongoing support and looking forward to seeing many of you at the walk.
